Christmas Countdown – Number 2

Number 2 on my Luxembourg Christmas countdown is, to my mind, the most beautiful part of the city; a picturesque quarter that gives Luxembourg a unique feel. When you walk through the streets of Grund, past the beautiful houses and along the river flowing through it, you can look up to the city and the ramparts of the old fortress and its cave system and it feels as though you’ve gone back in time. Grund can be reached by foot or by lift, depending on how lazy you’re feeling, and there’s a great choice of bars and restaurants.
